So as some of you may know Jody broke her foot and was issued an Ugly gray walking boot.

Well this just would not do for my stylish lady.
So after some masking, taping and sanding, I am proud to present to the world… Pinky.

Bear Mtn Picnic
So I was driving in New York state, about 30 mins outside the city and I pulled into small rest stop in the middle of the 2 lane highway. I had to slam on the brakes while on the ramp because a f-ing Bear! jumped out and was just sitting in the road looking at me. After I stopped about 2 feet from hitting him, he looked at me with disdain, and loped off into the forest with nary a care.
I caught a picture of him as he headed off to his bearly duties.

Upcoming Graduation.
So after a long time coming I’ve got College Graduation coming up. 4 Years of work and a Bachelors in Industrial Design to show for it. I’ve learned a lot about design and ways of thinking and approaching projects.
Now the real question ahead of me, is which one??

Stanislaw Lem has died.
His obituary is located here. http://dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1020403
A seminal writer in Science Fiction history, his writings have helped form my worldview.
Most importantly he has made me ask the question;
“When future societies look back through our remains, what will they think?”
NetVibes is rocking these days.
I checked out netvibes way back when and thought that it wasn’t for me. Also I wasn’t ready to give out my gmail login info to a couple of developers in France.
These days though I work on lots of different machines, and have a need to keep my RSS feeds up to date. So i went looking into online feed readers again. reader.google.com is still no where near ready for prime time, just a horrible interface (and I’m a big google fan). I tried a couple of others but still wasn’ happy. Then I tried out netvibes again to see where they were these days and I have to say im pretty impressed!
The feed reading is nice and fast and since its web based it stays synced across any machine I’m using.
Now the things I need fixed if you guys are listening.
- Need a way to group feeds together (But keep the read/unread counters visible)
- Keyboard shortcuts. I like to read feeds during lunch and I only keep one clean finger to browse up and down through feeds. So please give me some shortcuts
- How about a 4th Column on the page. I’ve got the real estate to spare.
Thats about it for now. Keep up the good work.
Wakeup With iTunes (version 2)
I’ve reimplemented my earlier console based iTunes alarm clock as a windows application.
So now you people who are scared of the command line can wake up with ease too!
Also I missed .Net and Visual Studio so it was fun to get back in there.
Here’s a screen shot:
Download the installer Install Wakeup With iTunes.msi
You will need the .Net framework 2.0 installed. The installer will prompt you to download and install it if you need it. You can also download it from Microsoft
Any questions or comments let me know.
-Josh
Instructions:
- Start the program (it’ll be in your Start Menu).
- Choose a playlist from the list.
- Set your wakeup time.
- Check the Wake Me Up? box
- Optional. Check the Ramp up Volume? box to have iTunes slowly increase the volume as it begins playing. (Highly recommended, actually now that I think about it I should have just made this the standard behavior and not even have the check box)
Then wait for the set time and iTunes will start playing.
Note: This won’t work if your computer is Off or has been put into sleep or hibernate mode. (If anyone wants to donate some resources I could probably add support for waking the computer from hibernate mode…)
My Rotary Phone cellphone hack was featured in the MAKE blog.

Re-launching jbloomdesign.com
Check out the new website and let me know what you think.
For those who are keeping score at home this is the fourth major revision to the site. Nice and clean this time.
Oh and the tools list/computer setup post is still in the works.

This is Just Too Cool
Apparently this guy is a Japanese Magician.
Watch him get old person makeup applied and go out and freak people out. I wish I knew how he does that leaning trick.
