In the midst of laying off like a billion people Sun is at the same time hiring some new people to bring the Dynamic Ruby language into the fold. This is pretty exciting news for the Ruby community.
So the IronPython project has Microsofts backing and JRuby now has Suns backing. Are the two biggest software companies choosing sides in the dynamic languages space? Java does already have a working Python implementation in Jython so maybe the Java camp is going to end up with more choices? There are people hard at work on Ruby .Net integration. How long until MS decides to put some weight behind those efforts as well?
