Make: Magazine from O’Reilly

I subscribed to Make: magazine before it was even shipping. I knew it was going to be great.
After 3 issues I have to say that I am still very impressed with it.
If you are at all interested in how things work, or what kinds of modifications you can make to existing stuff this is the magazine for you.
I’ve spent some time thinking about how I ended up working as a software developer. Looking back over my development my early days were all about taking apart physical things and making new things. Eventually I started playing with computers and realized that I could make things in software and have just as much fun as making real things. The benefit to working in Code though is that when you mess something up, you either don’t compile or crash, fix the problem and your on your way. When you wire hardware components the wrong way you “let the smoke out” and your basically out of luck.
I love this magazine because its bringing me back and making me realize how much fun it is to make physical objects once again. Also its doing a great job at briding the hardware and software worlds.
Highly recommended!
Theres a full Web accessible version if your a subscriber too. Great for printing out parts lists.
